It all started on a logging site.

There was a time when John Norman—the visionary behind LogVend—spent his days deep in the forest, racing to pull enough logs during daylight hours to meet project deadlines. Sunrise to sunset it was haul, sweat, and grit.

Nights offered no rest. Every waking hour was on the phone, chasing buyers, tracking leads, listening for shifts in the industry and building connections. Every conversation was logging, product, and who needed what. That grind sparked an idea: a single place to connect buyers and sellers. That’s how LogVend was born.

Roots in Forest

Logging runs in John’s blood. His family has been in forestry for generations, with his father involved in logging businesses, running a sawmill and as a landowner.

He learned the power of connecting with people and leveraging relationships to find buyers. Those lessons, paired with running a logging operation with his brother, planted the seed for LogVend.

The LogVend marketplace brings all the power of connecting with people, learning about market impacts, sourcing buyers and doing deals to a process facilitated within the digital world. Building the App

John talked to loggers, sawmill owners, farmers, landowners, and logistics pros to explore how timber really moves and find parallels in the challenges for each group. The concept was launched at a logging show in September 2024, sparking excitement and no shortage of tough questions, further shaping the structure of the app.

With a sharp tech team and a partner who shared his vision, John guided every feature—from smart search filters to messaging and transactions—was built to solve real problems.

The result? LogVend: a marketplace by the industry, for the industry—fast, simple, and ready to move timber like never before.
